The CHICKS Tri Moor Challenge was successfully completed by some 24 people over the weekend, and my thanks to all of you who kindly donated.
The current total is shown above, and if you wish to donate please do add to it. Saturday was the longer day at 72 miles over more than 7000 feet of climbing, which included some high moor of Exmoor. The scenery was wonderful, I just wished I had more time to appreciated it and take some photographs. As it was we started at 9.00 from Ilfracombe and I didn't roll into Okehampton until 19.15 as the light was beginning to fade. The spectacular scenery, good company and knowing that I was supporting the great work with children done by CHICKS spurred me on - as well as the thought of a bath (which turned out to be a very quick one) at the end of the day.
It was an earlier start at 7.00 on as I was one of the slowest riders and they sent groups off in a staggered start so that everyone finished at approximately the same time. This was a less difficult day at 50 miles, but still managed to seek out some interesting climbs through Devon and, especially, Cornwall. What I loved about this day was that I discovered some wonderful lanes that I didn't know that went through spectacular countryside and attractive villages.
All in all it was a superb weekend of cycling, with good company and a great back-up team from CHICKS and Global Adventures providing encouragement and food along the route. I don't seem t have suffered any physical damage - apart, that is, from losing 4lb somewhere along the way.
Thank you all, once again
